Sepsis

Igår blev det alltså en andra vända till sjukhuset i Managua. Efter nya blodprov och urinprov kom de fram till att jag har blodförgiftning, och jag blev då genast inlagd med dropp och antibiotika intravenöst. Det var inte min bästa stund i livet om man säger så. Det var såklart delvis jätteskönt att höra att de äntligen hittat roten till min sjukdom, men jobbigt när det är en allvarlig infektion i kroppen som jag måste läggas in för. Gustaf var världens bästa hela kvällen, klappade på mig när jag behövde det och gjorde vad han kunde för att jag skulle ha det bra. Natten blev ännu en i raden med feberfrossa, sköterskan sprang ut och in och tog temp och blodtryck massor med gånger. Idag har febern varit någolunda under kontroll, men jag är fruktansvärt svag och har fortfarande ont. Kommer vara inlagd till imorgon eller övermorgon.

Sjukhuset är jättefint, har ett eget rum med badrum. Kabel-tv, internet, en bäddsoffa som Gustaf sov i, god mat och allt man kan önska. Jag har fullt förtroende för min läkares kompetens, han verkar väldigt kunnig. Med andra ord kunde saker och ting vara mycket värre.


Till sist -tack så jättemycket för alla fina mail och kommentarer! Det betyder så mycket att ni tänker på mig, kan inte säga det nog. Ni är så viktiga.


So yesterday we went for round two at Hospital Vivian Pellas in Managua. After new blood tests they concluded that I have blood poisoning, and quickly hospitalized me and gave me antibiotics intravenously. Not the greatest day of my life so far, to say that I was fragile isn't even near reality. I'm so glad I had Gustaf by my side, he's been amazing. Last night became another night with high fever, and this time with a nurse running in and out of the room checking my temperature and blood pressure a million times. Today I haven't had that much fever, but I'm extremely weak and still in pain. Taking a shower (sitting on a chair while Gustaf did everything for me) was a huge project, don't have any energy left for any other physical activity today. Anyway, will stay at the hospital until tomorrow or Friday, and then I'm hopefully good to go. 


The hospital is great, I have my own room and bathroom. Cable-tv, internet, a bed for Gustaf to sleep in, really good food. Anything I could whish for really. I also have complete faith in my doctor, he seem very experienced and knowledgeable.. In other words things could be a lot worse.
